As Escrituras de Israel e a Igreja: Um panorama do uso do Antigo Testamento em 1 Pedro

A Primeira Epístola de Pedro estabelece uma complexa rede de relações com o Antigo Testamento, revelando a importância dessa conexão para compreender a profundidade e os significados multifacetados da carta, bem como sua relevância para a fé cristã. Este estudo, a partir de um diálogo com autores de referência no estudo de 1 Pedro, examina como o Antigo Testamento funciona como um alicerce para a epístola, influenciando sua linguagem, teologia e pensamento. O autor da carta recorre às Escrituras judaicas como fonte de autoridade, base para uma exegese que ilumina a vida e a obra de Jesus Cristo e como recurso retórico e pastoral para encorajar os destinatários. Por meio de imagens e elementos que conectam a realidade do povo hebreu do passado com a da igreja cristã, são desenvolvidos temas como a identificação da igreja como o novo Israel; a cristologia, que enfatiza o papel salvífico e exemplar de Jesus; a salvação, a santidade e a ética cristãs; além do sofrimento e da perseguição enfrentados com fé e perseverança pelo povo de Deus. Conclui-se que essa profunda relação com as Escrituras veterotestamentárias enriquece de modo essencial a teologia de 1 Pedro.
